So you'll need to do this bit with a mouse. But if you are inputting as you go, moving forward in a steady flow, then you can, as input will work by grid adjacently, and the edit cursor will follow.

 +Note the 16th notes are in sequence, and were inputted by step input, so within reasonable means, it's possible to input as you go, including adjusting velocity (Shift+Up/Down arrows for the active note). Note also the last note is a crotchet (1/4), and this was inputted by selecting the grid duration before putting the note in.
